Nature Reserve
Closing to the border of Lithang, in Daocheng county is a Nature
Reserve as Haizishan or Mountain Haizi, a bleak lakeland plateau
containing the remnants of Tibet's oldest ice-cap of Dabpa', with
about 1145lakes dotted in this Natural Resereve covering about
3287sq kms, alt from 3600M to 5020M. The eroded rocks assume
grotesque shapes: goats, dogs, flowers and so on, this area is
important for the scientific study of glacier.
The biggest lake in Haizishan Xinyicuo (Shingyetso) lake, alt
4420M, with many birds inhabited there for the holy lake to local
Tibetan.
Yading
Nature Reserve
Located in the southern part of Daocheng county, Garzi TAP,
Sichuan, as it titled as "Shangri-la". There are 3 holy
mountains: the North Xiannairi peak, or Chenresig (Avalokitesvara,
or Guanyin Buddha, Mother Buddha, 6032M), the South
Yangmaiyong peak or Jambeyang (Manjuist Buddha, or Wenshu Buddha,
5958M), and the east Xiaruduoji peak or Chanadorje (Vajrapani,means
the Buddha with warriors' hands, 5958M). They are sacred to
tibetan Buddhists for they are the representation f the
compassion, wisdom, and energy thatare essential to reaching
enlightenment and the end of suffering. Trekking round these or
any one of the mountains for their pilgrimage (Kora). In front of
each peak, there is a limpid lake, poetically described as the
mirrors upon which the lords of the three families shaved their
hair. Many wild goats, deer, monkeys, and black bears thrive in
this reserve.
Mill
Valley (Mofanggou Valley)
A valley 43km from Samdo township to Haizishan Mountain for
herdsmen to make herding in the grassy valley, with its grass
field, stream, hills, fish in river, wild animals etc.
Guden
Festival
Gadeng (Guden) festival, is a traditional festival in Daocheng (Dabpa),
all the singers, dancers and other local Tibetan gathering to the
grassland beside county township for performance, market fair,
horse ride race and other competition etc, with tent dotted
around, and campfire at the night.
