China Civil Aviation Flight University (CCAFU), famous for its as the
Pilot's Cradle of China's Civil Aviation, located in Guanghan, Sichuan
Province, China. It is the largest university for advanced civil aviation
education in China and Asia, one of three colleges under the direct
leadership of CAAC(Civil Aviation Administration of China) (China
Civil Aviation Flight University in Guanghan, Sichuan Province is the cradle
of China’s pilots and air traffic controllers; China Civil Aviation
College in Tianjin specializes in aircraft maintenance, air traffic control,
engineering and ground service commercial management; China Civil Aviation
Management Institute in Beijing specializes in training for middle and
senior managers in civil aviation industry. In addition, there are 2
specialty schools Under CAAC: both in Shanghai and Guangzhou conduct
training in aviation mechanisms, maintenance transportation for
airlines and airports.), and has trained more than 10,000 pilots and a great
number of senior engineers and technicians for China, accounting for 90
percent of China's civil aviation pilots in China.
The original school was founded in Aug 1956 with the approval of the State
Council, when it was known as the China Civil Aviation Flight School and
originally location at Xinjing Airport, Xinjing county, Sichuan, ever
belongs to both CAAC and Air Force or ever belongs one of them if necessary,
and named as CCAFU since 1987.
CAFUC covers an area of 1,100 hectares. It is equipped with 107 airplanes of
9 types, such as the Xiayan IIIA, Seminole, TB-20, TB-200, Y-5, Y-7, and
Yunwu, as well as Bell 206 and Schweizer helicopters. It has the largest
flight simulation training center in Asia and the Pacific, one of the best
engine maintenance training centers in the world. There are four subsidiary
institutes: Luoyang sub-institute in Henan, Xinjin sub-institute, Guanghan
Traffic sub-institute, Mianyang sub-institute in Sichuan. It has 5 airports
for aero and ground aviation teaching and training, and also owns navigation
stations in Suining and Luoyang, and Aero engine maintenance training
center, Sanxing General Aviation Company as well.
CCAFU has nearly 500 experienced & qualified flight pilot (instructors)
and land instructors with theoretic teachers, more than 100 of them with
flight hours over 2,500hours in flight teaching, most of them have been
awarded honors by the CAAC. In recent years, the university has been cited
by the CAAC for its flight safety.
Today, CCAFU has 3 ground institutes and 4 departments: Flight
Techniques and Aviation Engineering Institute, the Air Traffic Control
Institute, and the Air Crew Institute, Foreign Languages Dept, Computer
& Information Engineering Dept, Management Dept, Physical & Sports
Dept. The courses cover flight technique, aircraft and helicopter control,
air transportation, air traffic control, English, cabin service/tourism
management, commercial English, computer science and technology, computer
application, and MBAs, pilot training for private and commercial
license.
CCAFU has good and large cooperation with Corp. such as SN, CFMI, SOCATA,
Boen etc from other countries. Also attract foreign students to be there for
study and training, the 1st group of 10 foreign students was from Vietnam in
1962, followed by pilot students, air traffic controllers and maintenance
staff from Hong Kong and countries such as Mongolia, Japan, South Korea, and
Cambodia etc.
